In accordance with the DePaul University Policy on Emergency Procedures and Communication, the DePaul University Library may be closed during campus emergencies, as well as during more routine situations, such as severely inclement weather.
While each situation is unique, and the decision to close one or more library facilities may be made on a case-by-case basis, in general:
If classes are canceled, but the offices of the University remain open, the library will remain open;
If classes are canceled and the offices of the University are closed on a specific campus (except for essential services), the library on that campus will be closed; and
If classes are canceled and the offices of the University are closed (except for essential services), the library will be closed.
The decision to close one or more library facilities in the event of an emergency or severely inclement weather will be made by the University Librarian or his or her designee, in collaboration with the Vice President for Teaching and Learning Resources.
The DePaul University home page is the primary source of information during a weather-related closing or an emergency. In the event of an emergency or weather-related closing of the DePaul University Library, an alert will be posted on the library home page, on social networking sites (e.g., Facebook), and, if possible, at the entry to physical facilities.
