Reviews may summarize and evaluate content, or provide valuable historical insights, such as how a creative work or author was originally received. They differ from criticism, which is a more in-depth analysis of a single work, a body of work, or a genre.

Specialized sources for book reviews include:

Theatre reviews
A distinction is made between reviews of theatre productions and performances and reviews or criticism of dramatic texts or plays. Specialized sources for theatre reviews include:
