FAQ
Do we have access to citation management software, such as EndNote or RefWorks?

DePaul has a site license for the EndNote citation management software.  EndNote is available on all the lab machines, but is also available for download for home use.

Students wishing to obtain a copy should first log into Campus Connection and then go to For Students.  You will find EndNote under the  Student Resources >> Student Software link.

Faculty and staff wishing to obtain a copy should first log into Campus Connection and then go to For Employees.  You will find EndNote under the File and Print >> IS Files link.

Download the software and install. (The Mac option is a zip file that you decompress and copy to your Applications folder; the Windows option is an executable file. However, some Windows users are prompted for a "Product Key" which is an indication that the files have not been extracted automatically. Right clicking on the folder and selecting "Extract all..." should move you forward.) Note that Vista and Office 2007 users may need to follow the instructions outlined on the EndNote website. If you do run into additional installation problems, contact EndNote tech support.

Bear in mind that our set up here at DePaul requires you to search in a database and then export your citations into EndNote. You cannot open EndNote and access our database subscriptions directly. Feel free to ask a librarian if you would like assistance with using a particular database and extracting your citation elements.

If you are a user of Firefox, there's also a very handy free browser extension called Zotero. Zotero allows you to store and organize citation information, generate formatted bibliographies, and supports a cite-within-the-document feature for Microsoft Word and OpenOffice.
