Of particular interest are the 200 volumes of extra illustrated editions, in which Mr. Bradford put together as many of the variant illustrations for each novel that he could locate. These extra illustrated volumes include photographs from movie productions of Dickens' novels, postcards illustrating the characters, Christmas cards with scenes and sentiments from Dickens' works, as well as copies of the original illustrations and some original art.
The Bradford Dickens collection was a gift to DePaul in 1972 from trustee Nathan Schwartz. The collection contains first editions of all of Charles Dickens' novels, serial editions in original parts issue of many of his works, illustrated editions, critical works on Dickens, and biographies. The unique importance of this collection is its emphasis on the illustrators of the works of Dickens.
