FAQ
How do I make a research consultation appointment with a librarian?

Walk up assistance is always available at any Reference Desk. For more complicated research projects, you might prefer to have a librarian's undivided attention for up to an hour. To schedule a research consultation, call the reference desk at a campus convenient to you:

Lincoln Park (773) 325-7863
Loop (312) 362-8432
Naperville (312) 476-4554
Oak Forest (708) 633-9096
O'Hare (312) 476-3611

Please understand that evening and weekend availability is limited. Consultations can also be conducted by phone.

What should you expect from a consultation? A librarian will...

  • Explore your topic and prepare before meeting with you
  • Help you formulate a research strategy
  • Demonstrate effective searches in the library catalog and databases
  • Follow up to make sure you find what you need
