Tips for Using Interlibrary Loan

  • Although we realize textbooks are extremely expensive, we are not able to borrow textbooks through Interlibrary Loan. Most libraries (including DePaul) do not collect course textbooks, and you are not able to keep the textbook for the entire quarter.
  • Try as we might, it's sometimes impossible to borrow CDs, computer software, video, DVDs, rare books, hot new fiction, and dissertations.
  • When requesting in I-Share or WorldCat, if you set the "need by" date less than two weeks into the future, the system may automatically drop your request.
  • Borrowing from other libraries can take as little as three days, but it can take two weeks and sometimes longer. Please plan your requesting accordingly.
