WHAT IF I CAN´T FIND THE BOOK ON THE SHELF?

Ask at the circulation desk for a shelf check. If we find the book, we will contact you. If we do not find the book within 24 hours, we will order it from another library for you.
If you prefer, you can request the book online from another library using the DePaul Library Catalog.      [Top]

WHERE ARE THE JOURNALS AND NEWSPAPERS?

All printed periodicals (magazines, newspapers and journals) are located on the second floor, except microforms. Microfilm and microfiche are located on the first floor in the Media Viewing/Listening Room.

Loop Campus Library
Periodicals are located on shelves to the right as you enter the library. Current periodicals are shelved in front of the Reference Desk.

From Anywhere
The library subscribes to more than 10,000 electronic journals, which are available from any library or from home. Use the Journal & Newspaper Articles page to find these titles.      [Top]

MY INSTRUCTOR PUT MATERIALS ON RESERVE. WHERE WOULD I FIND THEM?

To see what’s on reserve for your class, select “Reserve readings” from the library home page. Search the ERes system by your instructor’s name or the course number.

For electronic reserves (articles scanned and made available online), you will need a password from your instructor.

For library reserves (books, DVDs, etc.), click the link that says “Material on reserve in the library” to find the call number. Take the call number to the Circulation Desk to check out the material. Library reserve items usually may be checked out for 2 hours and must be used in the library.      [Top]

WHERE ARE YOUR RESUME BOOKS AND CAREER INFORMATION?

There are Career Information Collections at both the Richardson and Loop Campus Libraries. You can find information about specific careers as well as books on interview techniques and writing resumes. The career materials are located at the back of the Reference area.      [Top]

CAN YOU SEND ME A BOOK OR ARTICLE FROM ANOTHER CAMPUS?

Yes, the library delivers both books and articles to remote locations. If you need a book from any other campus, request the title through the DePaul Library Catalog.

To request journal articles from another campus, first search e-Journals to see if the article is available online to print immediately.

Search by start of journal title:

If the journal you need is not available online, you will see a link to ILLiad to request a scanned copy of the article from another location or institution.

ILLiad requests are also available through the library databases via the "Find full text" link and from Google Scholar – first go to Scholar Preferences and set Library Links to show "DePaul University - Find full-text @ DePaul."

CAN YOU PUT A BOOK ON HOLD FOR ME?

If the book is checked out:
Yes, we can place a system hold so that when it's returned, no one else can check out the book before you do. But you'll usually get the book faster if you request it from another library through the DePaul Library Catalog.

If the book is available on the shelf:
No, we cannot pull the book and hold it for you at the desk. But you can request that we send it to another campus through the DePaul Library Catalog.      [Top]
