Irish Collection

Lady Gregory, The White Cockade: A Comedy in Three Acts. Dublin: Maunsel, 1905.

The Irish Collection began in 1927, when the Irish American Association's Chicago Chapter donated books to DePaul University Library.

The portion of the Irish collection housed in Special Collections includes resources relating to the Irish Literary Renaissance, such as William Butler Yeats, Edward Martyn, and Lady Gregory, and the plays and poetry of those associated with the Abbey Theatre.

The collection also contains numerous contemporary 19th century histories of Ireland, travel accounts of the customs of the Irish as seen by British observers, various histories of Ireland printed in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and facsimilies and studies of The Book of Kells.

For more information, please consult the Irish Collection Bibliography.
