Islam in America Collection

Begun in 1993, the American Islamic collections at DePaul University Library, in conjunction with the Center for African American Research, support the research in and preservation of the history of the American Islamic movement.

Materials are retained in these collections because of their relationship to the individual who collected them or the organization that generated as well as for their specific scholarly or intrinsic value.

Library staff work with Dr. Aminah McCloud to identify individuals and organizations who are invited to deposit their papers and materials in the American Islamic Archives. Materials received to date have come from the late Aminah Bey (August 1993), Muhammed Al-Ahari (October, 1993 and January, 1994), and the International Institute of Islamic Thought (August 1993).
