Leon Stein Collection

This collection consists of personal papers, musical scores, musical recordings, writings and lectures, photographs and memorabilia of Leon Stein (1910-).

Dr. Leon Stein earned his Masters and Ph.D. in Music from DePaul University in 1935 and 1949, respectively. Except for two years of military service during W.W.II, Dr. Stein taught at DePaul from 1931 until his retirement in 1978. Winner of numerous awards for both his compositions and his service to the musical community, Dr. Stein has also directed and conducted several orchestras in the Chicago area.

The collection contains detailed biography, awards, degrees, correspondence, musical scores, recordings of compositions on tapes, cassettes and LPs, programs and reviews, class and lecture notes, photographs, and prose compositions.
