Reproduction Procedures

Policies

  • Materials do not circulate, but photocopying services are available.
  • Some items held in this department are extremely fragile. Therefore, certain items -- scrapbooks, early bulletins, books with embrittled paper or deteriorated bindings -- will not be photocopied if the procedure may injure the materials.
  • All photocopying is done by the staff.
  • The charge for photocopying is 10 cents per copy. Orders of more than 50 copies ($5.00) require prepayment. Payment must be made by check or money order made out to DePaul University Library.
  • Requests taken before 12:00 p.m. will be finished by 4:00 p.m. that day; requests taken after 12:00 p.m. will be finished by 11:00 a.m. the following day.
  • Photocopying procedures may change for items used by an entire class.
  • Faculty publications cannot be photocopied.     Top

Telephone or E-Mail Requests

  • Requests for more than 50 copies via telephone or e-mail must be prepaid and an additional $5.00 research and mailing fee will be charged.
  • Copies are paid for with a check or money order, in U.S. currency, made out to DePaul University.
  • Payment should be sent to:

    DePaul University Archives
    2350 N. Kenmore Ave.
    Chicago, IL 60614
    U.S.A.
  • A signed and dated Reproduction Request Form must be recieved before copies will be sent. The form can be sent via e-mail, fax or through U.S. mail.
  • DePaul University Archives will attempt to process copy requests as quickly as possible; however, requests may be delayed due to unusual increases in on-site patron use or because of shortage of available staff. The patron will be contacted in case of delay.
  • Completed requests are generally sent to the requestor via U.S. Mail, First Class. For time-sensitive requests, our department can ship via Federal Express. An additional option for the patron is to request pickup from their delivery service using their own customer number.
  • Up to 100 copies per month may be requested.
  • Copy Fees:

    Photocopies: $0.10 each
    Photographic copies: $5.00 each
  • Service charges (includes research, copying and shipping)

Service charge for 1-20 copies: $2.00

Scanned and Photographic Copies

  • A scanned image will be provided free of charge and sent via e-mail.
  • The Slide Library photographer will make photographic copies of materials, but patrons must prepay a $5.00 fee per print before the request can be processed.
  • Turn-around time for prints varies, but most jobs will be done in two weeks.
  • Researchers may bring a camera to the department to photograph materials.
  • In all cases, a signed and dated Reproduction Request Form must be completed.     Top

Copyright statement

  • Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions: The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.     Top
